Celebrate on May 20th, 2016 Endangered Species Day, a celebration of the nation’s wildlife and wild places. Endangered Species Day is an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the importance of protecting endangered species and everyday actions you can take to help protect them.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TODAY?

- Visit a local zoo, park, aquarium, botanic center or wildlife refuge. The Essex County Turtle Back Zoo is home to 3 out of 10 of the AZA SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) signature species. Come visit and learn more about African penguins, sharks and sea turtles (coming soon)!
- Engage in literacy! Read one or all of the free children’s picture books on the AZA Animals website, each featuring one of the 10 SAFE Signature Species at http://azaanimals.org/meet-the-animals/unite-for-literacy-bookshelf/
