When visiting our Australia Exhibit, be sure to come out and experience our free flight aviary. Immerse yourself in the Australian outback as budgerigars fly around you. In the wild, budgerigars live throughout the drier parts of Australia where the species has survived harsh inland conditions for the last five million years.
Home to approximately 500 free flight budgerigars as well as Laughing Kookaburras and Tawny Frogmouths, the Outback Aviary is a unique experience for visitors to interact with some of Australia’s amazing wildlife. The aviary is usually open beginning mid-May through the end of September.
