Sensory-Friendly Morning

The Essex County Turtle Back Zoo can be an energetic, noisy place full of sensory stimuli, and we know this environment can be overwhelming for some guests. In 2025, we are excited to host a Sensory-Friendly Morning!
Start your day on Saturday, April 26 from 8-10am for a modified zoo experience including limited capacity and muted attractions.
This event does require advanced registration.
Sensory-Friendly Morning is great for people who benefit from visiting the zoo without crowds and other sensitive environmental elements.
During Sensory-Friendly Morning, the Carousel and Train will operate without music and whistles. The Gift Shop will be open, and the Café will sell beverages starting at 9am. Some animals may not be in their public viewing spaces.
Visit our Picnic Area to learn more about groups throughout our community and what resources are available to you!
