Event Details
Saturday, October 26 ~ 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm sessions
Wear your favorite Halloween costume and enjoy a spooky story read by a not-too-scary Halloween character and meet a favorite animal friend.
Light refreshments are included with ticket. Recommended for children ages 12 and younger; children under two are free. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All attendees must have a ticket (free under 2 tickets are available). The event lasts approximately 45 minutes. Space is limited; tickets can be purchased in advance. This event does not include zoo admission. Event is rain or shine. Dogs visiting for Barktoberfest cannot attend Spooky Stortytime because zoo animals will be present in the program space.

Barktoberfest is a pet adoption event and marketspace from 11am to 3pm at the Berson Education Center at Essex County Turtle Back Zoo. Our very own Zoological Society of New Jersey created this event as a way to give back to our community and to highlight some wonderful folks and organizations that are dedicated to helping pets find their forever homes. Now in its fourth year, Barktoberfest keeps growing, adding more vendors and sponsors. Please join us for a lovely day. The rain date for Barktoberfest is October 27 (Spooky Storytime is only on October 26).
